Tony Stewart Claims First 2-Wide Top Fuel Win at Route 66

Tony Stewart continues to build his legacy in the NHRA by capturing his first ever 2 wide Top Fuel victory at the 2025 Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals in Joliet, Illinois. The win follows his breakthrough Top Fuel triumph at the Las Vegas 4 Wide Nationals last month, but this marks his first win in the traditional head-to-head format that defines most NHRA national events.

Stewart, who is competing full-time in Top Fuel for Tony Stewart Racing Nitro, launched a blistering pass in the finals to claim victory, adding another milestone to an already historic season. With this win, he becomes the only driver to claim victories at all three major Chicagoland motorsports venues: the oval track, the dirt track, and now the dragstrip.

“This one is special,” Stewart said after the win. Winning in the 4-Wide format was incredible, but to come back and get it done in a 2-wide race the way most of these races are run, just validates all the hard work this team has put in.

This victory solidifies Stewart's rapid rise in drag racing and further cements his reputation as one of the most versatile drivers in motorsports history.
